1. “Beginning the Journey Towards Radical Acceptance: Embracing the Now

Settling In
As we embark on this journey towards radical acceptance, take a gentle moment to find a comfortable position in which you are entirely at ease. You could be seated or lying down, whatever feels right for your body now. Ensure that your posture is relaxed yet alert, embodying a sense of openness and willingness to just be.
Take a deep, slow breath. Inhale, filling your lungs with life-giving oxygen. And then exhale,, releasing any tension or tightness in your body.
Breathing
On your next in-breath, imagine your breath as a gentle wave rising, carrying with it peace and clarity. As you exhale, the wave recedes, carrying away unnecessary thoughts or worries. Let your attention rest with the rhythm of your breath, the rise and fall of your chest.
Consider each breath as a testament to this present moment. With each inhale, we acknowledge our presence here and now. With every exhale, we commit to accepting this moment as it is.
Embracing the Present
Now, lovingly direct your attention to the sensations in your body. Feel the weight of your body against the surface beneath you. Notice the temperature of the air on your skin, the feeling of your clothes against your body.
This is your present moment reality. It is not something to be resisted or changed. It is simply what is happening right now. And so, we cherish and fully accept the present moment.
Accepting Your Thoughts and Emotions
Allow your awareness to shift towards your thoughts and emotions. Observe your mental landscape without trying to change or judge anything.
You may notice thoughts, judgments, or emotions floating in and out of this landscape. Instead of getting entangled in them, you let them float by as clouds in the sky of your consciousness.
You accept them as they are, not as signs of failure or success, good or bad, but merely transient ripples in the vast ocean of your awareness.
Widening Your Landscape of Acceptance
Now, let your entire experience be your meditation object, with an attitude of radical acceptance.
This includes not only your breath, your bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions, but also the sounds you might hear, the space you’re in, the time of the day, the weather, the state of the world, and everything else that pertains to this moment.
Nothing is excluded. Everything is invited in and accepted just as it is. Everything belongs here and now.
This is radical acceptance – embracing the present moment with all its components, without resistance, without judgment, just being witness to the symphony of life that is unfolding exactly as it is.
Remember, as you continue on this journey of acceptance, there is no right or wrong experience. You are simply witnessing and engaging with the ever-changing flow of life. Allow yourself to be carried along on this journey, practicing radical acceptance, embracing the present moment.
Congratulations on beginning your journey towards Radical Acceptance. Continue to meditate in this way, cultivating a deep sense of acceptance and presence with the now.
Be patient with yourself, and remember, at any moment you may choose to return to this meditation, forever committed to embracing the present.
